About Us
Our Mission
The idea for Rondo was born from Jubilee Hall at the University of Ghana, where we (Nii, Nana Gyamfi, Kofi, Desmond) often watched boys (the likes of Elorm, Elvis, Nesta and co.) play with passion, talent, and a deep love for the game. Every evening between 4 and 6 pm, the field came alive with energy, skills, and camaraderie. Sometimes, we joined in to play, but more often, we stood on the sidelines, observing and marveling at the exceptional talent displayed by many of these players. One day, as we watched and discussed, a thought struck us, what if there was a platform to bring together such talented and like-minded players? A space where their skills could not only be appreciated but also nurtured, documented, and showcased to the world. We realized that this wasn't just a university phenomenon; back home at Nii's place, we had seen similar scenes, with local boys and friends coming around to play passionately but without any exposure, records, or opportunities to turn their love for football into something more.
Fueled by these observations, we began envisioning a platform that would unite players from across the country and world, provide a competitive yet enjoyable environment, and offer meaningful exposure. At the time (around May 2022 - September 2023), we were already working on another platform, the Hashtag Tournament, a computer programming and software development training competition for Junior High Schools that saw the likes of Bishop John Daly, Most Holy Heart and Believers International School participating, so we placed Rondo on hold. However, the passion for it never left us.
In September 2024, we began drafting backend and data structures for this vision, and by October 2024 and November 2024, the idea started to take shape. We gathered again at Nii's place, where we joined the local boys to play football, and later had deep discussions about how to bring this dream to life. Our motivation was clear:
- To unite local football players across the country, fostering a fun, competitive environment that inspires and elevates talent
- To create a platform that provides exposure, builds community, and offers new experiences and opportunities
- To empower players to generate income from their passion for football while building a sustainable business that benefits all stakeholders
We believe football is more than just a game, it is a bridge to opportunities, a community-builder, and a source of joy and empowerment. Our mission is to celebrate this spirit by creating a platform that not only brings players together but also provides the tools, data, and networks they need to thrive.
Through Rondo, we hope to create a future where every passionate football player, from university fields, to local neighborhoods, can pursue their love for the game with purpose, recognition, and support. Together, we aim to redefine grassroots football and make an incredible impact on the sport we all cherish.
